On September 25, 2569, Rajamangala University of Technology Isan, through its Student Development Division, organized a workshop on crime prevention knowledge and skills under the project “Developing the Effectiveness of the University Crime Prevention Network” at Room 213, 2nd Floor, Office of the President Building, RMUTI Nakhon Ratchasima. The aim was to enhance knowledge, understanding, and skills in dealing with threats in daily life and online, as well as to create a concrete safety network within the university.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Associate Professor Dr. Kosit Sripuhtorn, President of RMUTI. Associate Professor Police Lieutenant Colonel Chalermpol Sunthornnon, a faculty member of the Forensic Science Department at the Royal Thai Police Academy, delivered a report. Also in attendance were Assistant Professor Sarawis T. Siriwatana , Vice President for Student Affairs and Alumni Relations; Assistant Professor Thanin Rabieppho; and over 150 faculty members and students.

Associate Professor Dr. Kosit Sripootorn, President of RMUTI, stated that current threats are becoming more diverse and complex, including both on-site crimes and online threats. Therefore, the university prioritizes enhancing essential knowledge and skills for self-protection, coupled with building a collaborative safety network. This ensures that faculty and students can be aware, assess situations, and respond appropriately to potential incidents, leading to a safe university environment conducive to quality learning.
This aligns with the objectives of this event, which aims to educate participants on online security through the "Cyber Vaccine" course to build immunity and awareness of new forms of crime, as well as training in survival skills in mass shooting situations and other threats using the "Run-Hide-Fight" approach. We were honored to have lecturers and trainers from the Royal Thai Police Academy share their knowledge, experience, and practical approaches that can be applied in real-world emergency situations.
Associate Professor Sarawis T. Siriwatana , Vice President for Student Affairs and Alumni Relations, added that Associate Professor Dr. Kosit Sripootorn, President of RMUTI, is concerned about the safety of its personnel and students, especially in facing various potential threats. Therefore, the university has collaborated with the Royal Thai Police Academy to share expert knowledge to serve as a "protective shield," both in terms of understanding cyber threats and responding to mass shooting situations. This helps students and personnel remain calm, assess the situation, make decisions, and act appropriately when such incidents occur.
Ms. Yupaphan Khonkratok, an educational specialist, was assigned to coordinate the speakers and conduct the activities with staff from the Student Development Division. The morning session consisted of a lecture on cybersecurity by Police Lieutenant Colonel Chalermpol Sunthornnon, aiming to raise awareness about online scams and crimes, as well as ways to protect oneself from becoming a victim.

In the afternoon, participants listened to a lecture on "Run, Hide, Fight" by Police Lieutenant Colonel Anupong Limsiri, Deputy Superintendent of the Police Training Group at the Police Academy, before proceeding to a simulated shooting scenario. This allowed participants to practice applying the principles learned in a situation close to a real-life scenario, from observing and assessing risks, choosing escape routes, finding suitable hiding places, and making decisions to defend themselves when confrontation is unavoidable. The training aimed to familiarize participants with the scenario, reduce panic, and enhance their ability to make rational decisions in emergencies, potentially increasing their chances of survival and minimizing losses in a real-life event.
Rajamangala University of Technology Isan would like to express its gratitude to the lecturers and instructors from the Royal Thai Police Academy, the Parliamentary Police, the Department of Special Investigation, and the Suang Neun Police Station for sharing their valuable knowledge and skills with our personnel and students. This will enable them to assess situations, respond to emergencies, and further disseminate this knowledge, expanding the safety network from the university level to the community and contributing to the creation of a society that is well-prepared to effectively address threats.
