RMUTI joins forces with the Plant Genetic Resources Development Agency (PGRA) to meet with the Governor of Nakhon Ratchasima to promote local resource bases in 334 locations, highlighting the unique characteristics of native plants, and preparing for the "International Horticultural Expo 2572".

          On March 9, 2569, Rajamangala University of Technology Isan (RMUTI), represented by Associate Professor Dr. Kosit Sripootorn, President of RMUTI, along with the executive team including Associate Professor Dr. Bundit Kritakom, Vice President for Research, Innovation and Academic Services; Associate Professor Dr. Apichit Khampala, Dean of the Faculty of Rail Systems and Transportation; and Assistant Professor Dr. Kuntika Boonsupawong, Head of the RMUTI Coordination Center for Plant Genetic Conservation (PGCC), as well as Major General Wicheth Punyabal, PGCC-RMUTI Advisor, and Mr. Pornchai Chutamas, Deputy Director of the Royal Project for Plant Genetic Conservation under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, met with Mr. Anupong Suksomnit, Governor of Nakhon Ratchasima Province, to discuss strategies for advancing the PGCC project under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn (P.R.S.G.) supports the operations of 334 local resource bases and held discussions to develop a roadmap for creating a database of unique plant species in 32 districts. The aim is to upgrade local resources through research and innovation in preparation for the 2572 World Horticultural Exposition, at Nakhon Ratchasima Provincial Hall.

          The primary objective of this meeting is to support the operations of 334 local resource bases across 32 districts in Nakhon Ratchasima province. The focus is on creating a database of unique and distinctive local plants in each district to generate added value and ensure sustainable plant genetic conservation. This project is a collaborative effort between key educational institutions in the area, namely RMUTI and Suranaree University of Technology (SUT), which will play a crucial role in:

  • Research and Development: Conducting in-depth investigations into the benefits of local plants.
  • Knowledge transfer: Conducting fieldwork to educate communities on conservation and sustainable use.
  • Product development: Transforming local resources into standardized products and generating income.
