Professor Emeritus Dr. Surakiat Sathienthai delivered a special lecture entitled "Future Foresight and the Future of Thai Education," outlining the direction of Thai higher education in preparation for the future world.

1 August 2569 Rajamangala University of Technology Isan organized the Retreat RMUTI 2569 project: “Looking Back and Looking Forward for the Future of Isan” under the concept... RMUTI Foresight 2027–2032 Between July 31st and August 2nd, 2569, at the Holiday Inn & Suites Rayong City Center, Rayong Province, over 200 members of the University Council, experts, administrators, and staff participated in a brainstorming session to prepare the document. Draft of the 5th Strategic Plan for the Sustainable Development of Rajamangala University of Technology Isan (RMUTI) (2571-2575) To transform universities into “Future Universities” that are ready to produce highly skilled personnel, drive knowledge and innovation, and support sustainable national development, this project is being organized amidst rapid global changes in technology, economics, geopolitics, and the 21st-century labor market. The 5th National Strategy Plan will be a crucial framework in shaping the direction of personnel production, research, and innovation at the university to meet the needs of future industries in the coming decade.

Associate Professor Dr. Kosit Sriputhon, President of Rajamangala University of Technology Isan The objectives of the project were reported as follows:Mr. Chatchai Promlert He stated, "This strategic plan for the university is not just a five-year operational plan, but a means of defining the direction of the university's development to be ready for global changes in economics, technology, and society. The fifth strategic plan must be the result of the participation of all sectors and reflect a shared vision for developing RMUTI into a leading technology university capable of producing highly skilled personnel, creating knowledge and innovation to drive national development and enhance the potential of the Northeast region for a sustainable future."

This plan aims to define development directions that align with the rapidly changing global context, respond to the needs of the industrial sector, and support the country's future development.

This presentation conveyed a global strategic vision for the direction of Thai higher education in the future global context, highlighting the role of universities in preparing human resources, knowledge, and innovation to cope with changes in the global economy, technology, and geopolitics. The "Future Foresight" concept focuses on systematically looking to the future, analyzing trends, and designing proactive strategies. The recommendations from this presentation will be used as a key conceptual framework in developing the new university strategy.
Following the presentation of the draft of the 5th strategic plan, the meeting opened a forum for discussion and feedback from the honorary advisor, the university council chairman, experts, and administrators. This was followed by group workshops to revise the draft strategy based on the suggestions in four strategic areas, with the vice-presidents overseeing each area serving as group chairpersons.
